In Defeat Too, Opposition's Meira Kumar Breaks 50-Year-Old Record

New Delhi: The BJP has called the NDA's candidate Ram Nath Kovind's win in the presidential election a truly historic win. But the former governor who will become the country's second Dalit President may not be the only one setting records. Meira Kumar, the joint opposition's candidate, too has created one; sh Ms Kumar, who had tried to turn the race to Rashtrapati Bhavan into a battle for ideology and not individuals, received 3.67 lakh votes out of 10.69 lakh valid votes polled. The last candidate who came close was a former Chief Justice of India Koka Subba Rao who contested the 1967 election as a candidate of united opposition parties.
Justice Rao had resigned from the judiciary to contest the election, lost to Zakir Hussain but secured a record 3.63 lakh votes. It was an unbeaten record for 50 years. Justice Rao's second record is still intact; he got 43 per cent of the vote share. At 34 per cent, Ms Kumar lags by about 10 percentage points. e polled the highest votes by a losing candidate.

Baadshaho May Self-Censor, Trim Intimate Scene Between Ajay Devgn, Ileana D'Cruz

New Delhi: Filmmaker Milan Luthria's Baadshaho, starring Ajay Devgn and Ileana D'Cruz, is all set release in theatres on September 1. Ahead of its release, the director has decided to trim a 10-minute intimate scene from the movie to avoid objections from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), reported mid-day. "The scene between Ileana and Ajay, if left as is, lasts for 10 minutes. It's aesthetically shot and is crucial to the film's plot. But Milan decided to shorten it, trimming the kisses and bareback shots. He didn't want to attract the wrath of the Censors," mid-day quoted an insider as saying.
"The film is all-out commercial and he wants it to get a U/A certificate. The scene would have resulted in an 'A' certificate," the insider added.
Baadshaho is set against the backdrop of Emergency (1975-1977). The film narrates a fictional story of six people who try to bring a change in their destiny by pulling of a heist.
Baadshaho also stars Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Vidyut Jammwal and Sanjay Mishra in pivotal roles. The film has been extensively shot in Rajasthan.
In an earlier interview with news agency PTI, Milan Luthria said that Baadshaho is a 'historical fictional film.' "We have used some facts, there is lot of stuff that was unusual and exciting. It (Emergency as subject) is a great backdrop for action and thrills. We have done extensive research on the subject," PTI quoted Mr Luthria as saying.

Umesh Yadav’s house burgled on the day he’s appointed RBI assistant manager

On a day when Umesh Yadav landed a job with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as assistant manager, the right-arm Indian pace bowler also had to deal with some bad news.Umesh’s house in Nagpur was burgled on Tuesday, and according to reports, the thief or thieves took cash amounting to R45,000 as well as mobile phones. The number of mobile phones that have been stolen is not yet known.
Umesh was appointed assistant manager in RBI on Tuesday, and he will be posted in his hometown Nagpur.
He had completed his formalities of joining the RBI on Monday, and according to the Times of India, Umesh was also set to leave for Sri Lanka with the India team the next day, i.e. Tuesday.

The Drama Company TV review: The Kapil Sharma Show fades in comparison to Sony TV's brilliant new show

Last night, Sony TV's The Drama Company premiered amidst a lot of expectations. One, it was pitted against The Kapil Sharma Show, secondly, it was under immense pressure to appear different from the once-super-successful show, that enjoys a loyal following (deteriorating but still alive). But the good news is that the first episode of The Drama Company has successfully entertained audiences without once being reminiscent of The Kapil Sharma Show in any way.
The show revolves around a theatre company, run by Shambhu Dada (Mithun Chakraborty) with actors who are trying their best to put together a perfect play, but something or the other goes wrong.
The cast of Munna Michael--Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tiger Shroff and Nidhi Agarwal--graced the first episode.
WHAT'S UNIQUE
The show is unique in the sense that it experiments with various genres--situational, physical, slapstick. And not even once does it give you time to blink. Not even a single joke falls flat, and the comic timing of all the actors is perfect, especially Krushna Abhishek's who plays Baadshah Akbar with such aplomb. He is definitely a better actor than a stand-up comedian, and should avoid doing shows like Comedy Nights Live and Comedy Nights Bachao that don't suit his personality.
MITHUN DA MAKES A ROCKING DEBUT
As Shambhu dada, Mithun Chakraborty gives an edge to the show, although the Disco Dancer star has not more than a couple of lines to his credit. Yet, he is one of the pillars that hold the show. And though, he has a throne to himself, in no way, can he be compared to Navjot Singh Sidhu and Mika Singh from the shows The Kapil Sharma Show and Comedy Nights Bachao respectively. P.S. We liked his Bengali accent that lends credibility to his character.
EVEN SEEN A BALD ANARKALI?
If there is anyone whose performance stays with you long after the show is over, it is Sugandha Mishra. And the reason, why we can't get over her act is that we haven't seen a bald Anarkali before this. The scene had such a shock and comic value that our jaws are still hurting. And her last night's performances shows that Sugandha is one under-rated talent that has the potential to go really far.
SUDESH'S PULLS OFF HIS DUAL ACT WITH PANACHE
Sudesh Lahiri in his dual act as Birbal and Tansen rocked. If you are looking for new Birbal and Tansen jokes, maybe the yesterday's episode should be in your must-watch list. Sample this: Tansen: Achcha ab main jaa raha hun perform karneAnarkali: Aap wahan kaunsa gaana ga rahe hainTansen: Gaane thoda gaane hai, wahan generator ki problem hai, wahan bhi diye jalaane hai
AND THESE ACTORS DESERVE A SPECIAL MENTION TOO
The former Kapil Sharma Show comedian Ali Asgar as Shehzada Salim and Sanket Bhosale as the Mountain Man too were entertaining. Bahu Humari Rajni_Kant actor Riddhima Pandit deserves a special mention. She had little screen time, yet put up a splendid act.
BUT WILL THE VIEWERS LIKE IT?
Overall, The Drama Company has an old-world charm to it, combined with the sensibilities for the current generation. Watching The Kapil Sharma Show with the hangover of The Drama Company might make the former show seem a little drab in comparison. Even Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tiger Shroff were all praises for the show. "The show is a level apart from other comedy shows", said Nawaz. "I have a feeling the show will rake in a lot of TRPs," Tiger quipped.

Jagga Jasoos box office collection Day 3: Ranbir-Katrina's film has earned this much in its opening weekend

jagga jasoos

anbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's Jagga Jasoos has finally hit the right chord with the audience. After an average start, the fantasy film is steadily moving up the charts, thanks to positive word of mouth. Anurag Basu's directorial venture, which collected Rs 20.10 crore in its first two days, has shown a slight jump in figures on Sunday.

If reports are to be believed, Jagga Jasoos has earned another Rs 13 crore on its third day of release, thus taking the total to Rs 33.10 crore (approx).
Jagga Jasoos has been in the news for a long time now. Jagga Jasoos has been in the making for over three years,
during which the film's lead pair, Ranbir and Katrina, parted ways in real life. But after three years of labour, the cast and crew were able to finally release the film.
In fact, the ex-lovers did not hesitate to promote the film together.
Jagga Jasoos is about Jagga (Ranbir) on a quest to find his missing foster father Tutti-Futti (Saswata Chatterjee), after he is convinced that news of his death is false. Helping him in his mission is journalist Shruti Sengupta (Katrina).
The film received mixed reviews, although critics lauded the ambitious nature of Jagga Jasoos and the stellar performance of Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir had said at an event that he would pay back the distributors if the film does not fare well at the box office

Taking a short break, the Indian cricket team captain and the 29-year-old actress were recently spotted at a grocery shop in New York. A passerby seemed to have clicked a picture of the couple together, and as soon as it floated on social media networking sites, people couldn’t help but gush at the sight of the two. In the picture, with Sharma’s hand on her waist, it seems like she is bossing around while Kohli is meekly listening to her.
Seeing the two entering the zone of couples-who-go-for-grocery-shopping-together, Netizens lost it and turned the picture into a meme. With hilarious captions for the scenario, the picture has gone viral and left Twitterati chuckling with amusement. While one user wrote, “Prove it to me that you love me more than you love Shastri,” another one went on to say, “Shopping bhi DHONI bhai se puch ke karoge?” Even though the captions are coated with somewhat cheeky sarcasm, it is all in good humour! Take a look at some of the funniest memes here.
